Spartian

Brought to Stellagos from another unnamed planet by the Mystique Vioness Feralstride, these large creatures are known to be intelligent and strong. The Spartians are kind yet stubborn creatures who barely had any interactions with Stellaborn or higher intelligence creatures on their planet, meaning they have a hard time listening to them now. However, with good training and a high amount of respect, the Spartian is an irreplaceable Roamkin to any Stellaborn willing to put in the time.

These creatures are used to being among their kin, and are known to wander from their bonded for short periods during the full Elypso to visit in large herds. Although a Spartian will never stray for more than three days, it is not uncommon for one to disappear.

Anatomy

Despite being from a summer weather planet, the Spartian is known to grow rather thick coats during the winter if they are submitted to colder, and even freezing, temperatures. Their warm origins lead them to keep cooler body temperatures, averaging around 100°F (38°C), regardless of their subspecies. The only difference between the Spartare and the Spartoil in coat is the addition of the wings and feathers on the Spartare, which lends to thinner coats.

The front hooves of a Spartian are believed to be intended to ensure the quick yet sturdy initial footfalls of the Spartian, whereas their paws on their hind legs are to dig in deeper into the ground. This unusual division of feet is believed to have been helpful and necessary for traversing the rocky terrain of their homeland, considering the Spartian's innate interest in climbing and jumping.

While having Astral Cores and is the believed creation of Iphion, the Spartian is one of the few astral creations that must physically eat to continue their daily lifestyle. The exact reasoning is unknown, but researchers who have traveled to inhospitable places with little to no plant life noted a steady and alarmingly fast decline in their Spartian. This decline has only been remedied by large amounts of greenery, fruit, and vegetables.

Species Research

Thanks to the diligent work of researchers at Quasar Academy in Starhaven, the following information has been recorded for Spartians.

Creation: Iphion
Origin: Starborn, Unknown Planet
Flair: Exceptional Intelligence
Lifespan: Unknown
Height Range: 5ft (152cm) to 6.6ft (201cm)
Diet: Plants, Vegetables, Fruit

Star Cycle Information: Little is known about the star cycle of Spartians due to the main presence of these creatures being on another, unknown planet. However, small amounts of young Spartians Spartoil Foalhave been found near the city of Moonseed. From what can be studied about the young is that they sprout from their Raw Astral Cores already as the subtype they will be, unlike the Kriggy in Tynogeum. There has not been enough research time around the young or old Spartians to develop this information.

Pattern Research: All Spartians seem to follow the same natural patterning shown in the research images provided. However, this natural patterning can be altered using a Spectreat to follow the will and desire of either the Spartian or its bonded. Research has concluded that following the consumption of a Spectreat they can change color and pattern at will, however, it does not apply to their Astral Core.

Subspecies: There are two different subspecies of the Spartian: Spartare and Spartoil. The secret of what determines their subspecies is unknown, as they are often found as fresh Spartians already developed as either a Spartare or Spartoil.

Each variation of Spartian has a different boon that assists their bonded on their daily adventures. Dedicated research has found that up to two Spartian can be bound to a single Stellaborn at a time. Despite being a herd species, the Spartian are an intelligent species who only allow a duo of Spartian to bond. This is done to not overwhelm the Stellaborn, or reduce the attention and/or care the Spartian receives.

Spartare Spartian Title Divider

Bonded Boon: +10 Intelligence (INT) bonus in ONE instance of Intelligence (INT) based Tasks.
Energy Charge: One (1) per bi-weekly.
Roamkin Card Variations: Natural Card & Spectrum Charged Card
Stardust Intensity: 2

Natural Spartare Roamkin Card Spartare (Spart-air) Spartians are bubbly, playful, and aloof. They often are running around (or flying around) Spartare Spartian (Click for larger image)in some manner, attempting to find their way to play with either other Spartians or their Stellaborn. However, their often playful and ridiculous mood is mistaken for a lack of intelligence, leaving them severely underestimated. Their seemingly lackadaisical personality hides a highly intelligent creature who can solve nearly any puzzle and outrun nearly any race, physical or mental. Attempting to put a Spartare in a stable or some other closed paddock is futile, as they will either fly out or figure out the latch holding them in. Though most Stellaborn call their intelligence a boon in many ways, those who wanted an easier-going pet are going to be overwhelmingly surprised.

Researchers commonly own a Spartare to both have a quick and reliable companion as well as a Roamkin to bounce their ideas off of. Though they cannot speak directly, they have found ways to communicate with written patterns in dirt or simple directional queues.

Spartoil Spartian Title Divider

Bonded Boon: Allows the re-roll of ONE reward from any Task that has a loot table. Boon can be used after the roll has happened.
Energy Charge: One (1) per bi-weekly.
Roamkin Card Variations: Natural Card & Spectrum Charged Card
Stardust Intensity: 3

Natural Spartoil Roamkin Card Spartoil (Spar-toil) Spartians are the more level-headed and calm of the two subspecies. These gentle giants are often larger than the SpartareSpartoil Spartian (Click for larger image), spending most of their time feeding in large fields or following their bonded around as they work or travel. Their initial look as 'lazy' Roamkin is often because of the amount of time they work that is unseen. These natural navigators and heavy haulers are known for pulling carts during the late hours of the night or leading their bonded to where they want to go, even though it is not understood how this natural navigation works.

Despite being an obvious choice for farmers or travelers, the Spartoil is also known for being magically competent in a way that is not seen in any Roamkin to date. Magic Mytirs often travel with a Spartoil to both draw and supply their Spartoil with magical energy, somewhat like living batteries that also conduct their own work. They can lift and move objects with a thought, which is mostly used to assist their bonded, though sometimes can be used as a trick in a moment of fun.
