Content Policies

2.1 Defining Realm of Control

The “Realm of Control” refers to areas we actively monitor for rule violations. We are not reviewing content outside of this realm. However, if a serious violation occurs outside of our control, such as scamming, harassment, or child-inappropriate content, Starlight Commons [SLC] may take action depending on intent, content, and severity. We extend our realm of control only if the offense is reported to us and sufficiently serious to warrant action. For more details on our disciplinary system, see Section 4: Community Behavior.

Areas defined in our Realm of Control:
- Submissions made to the Starlight Commons DeviantArt group and/or ToyHouse world.
- All channels and content posted in the Starlight Commons Discord.
- All content posted or linked to the StarlightCommons masterlist.

Exceptions: Starlight Commons [SLC] does not normally take actions outside of SLC spaces. However, exceptions may apply to users in our community in the following situations:

Outside of the Realm of Control that MAY result in Action:
- Scamming & Theft
- Cheating
- Coordinated attempts to cause physical, mental, or financial harm.

Outside of the Realm of Control that WILL result in Action: These cases will result in an immediate ban, regardless of the platform or filtering in place. Adults (18+) interacting inappropriately with minors or animals will also be banned and reported to the appropriate staff.
- Inappropriate interactions with minors, or proof of minor-presenting characters.
- Criminal Activity
- Bestiality

2.2 Prohibited Content

The following content is prohibited in interactions in our Realm of Control, and is defined as inappropriate content:
- Hate speech targeting any race, sexual orientation, gender, religion, or disability.
- Hate or insults toward another user's works, creations, or designs.
- Disclosure of another user's personal and/or identifying information.
- Violent threats of any kind made directly or indirectly.

The following content is prohibited in interactions in our Realm of Control, and is defined as Adult Content (18+):
- Language and Imagery that are explicit and reference nudity, sexual content, bodily fluids, penetration, fetish, or extreme gore.
- Language & Imagery that can be construed as fetish content.
- Language & Imagery containing minors in appropriate situations that could be construed as sexual, fetish, or abusive content.
- Language & Imagery containing animals in appropriate situations that could be construed as sexual, fetish, or abusive content.
- Inappropriate content directed toward or shared with minors.

Use of any of the listed prohibited content will result in the post being removed, followed by a warning or permanent ban, depending on the intent, content, and severity.

2.3 Filtered Content

Submissions of works that are deemed inappropriate will be removed without warning. If the submissions continuously repeat, the user will be approached with a warning or a permanent ban, depending on the intent, content, and severity. Starlight Commons has a list of what content can be filtered and submitted to the Starlight Commons Discord, DeviantART Group, ToyHouse World:

Allowed w/ Filter or Spoiler:
- Works that have mild gore (I.E. blood).
- Works that contain sensitive or upsetting content, so long as a warning is provided and it abides by the listed rules in 2.1 Prohibited Content.

Not Allowed w/ Filter or Spoiler:
- Works that feature strong or explicit profanity used prominently in the content.
- Works featuring implied or expressed explicit themes that contain references to nudity, mild sexual content, explicit sexual content, bodily fluids, fetish, or extreme gore. (I.E., Exposed Organs/Exposed Viscera)

2.4 Sensitive Content

Starlight Commons is intended to be a space where we can allow freedom of expression. We urge users to be conscientious and understand that they may find some content triggering, but we can all continue to co-exist. Starlight Commons does not enforce rules against works featuring sensitive material about characters, but we do ask that users be considerate to their fellow members. Please consider filtering them or giving a warning to your peers to be aware.

Examples of Sensitive Content:
- References to self-harm and/or physical or mental disorders.
- References to physical or mental abuse.
- References to bigotry or hate speech.
- Profanity.

2.5 Adult Content and Underage Members

The spaces in the Realm of Control for SLC are PG13+. Within Starlight Common's [SLC] control, adult content is strictly prohibited. This includes pornographic commissions, erotic artwork or literature, erotic roleplay, and detailed sexual headcanons. Posting such content directly within SLC-controlled spaces, including the DeviantArt Group, ToyHouse World, and SLC Discord, will result in severe consequences. Posting uncensored pornography in any SLC-controlled space will result in a permanent ban. Examples include sharing commissions with detailed genitalia or linking to accounts that exclusively post uncensored pornography in bio boxes.

Users are ultimately responsible for ensuring that 18+ content is accessible through any linked accounts. Even carefully curated or filtered content should not be linked if SLC users can access it without restrictions. The following applies only to external accounts that are linked or referenced through spaces in our Realm of Control that may contain limited 18+ material. Accounts that are exclusively 18+ should not be linked in any capacity.

Safe Options with Restricted 18+ Content
- Platforms where adult content is properly filtered, segregated, or otherwise restricted from immediate visibility.
Examples: DeviantArt, ToyHouse, BlueSky, Twitter

Platforms NOT permitted for linking 18+ Content
- Platforms containing adult material that may not be shared or linked within our Realm of Control.
Examples: Patreon, Ko-Fi

Private Discord Servers
Private servers are outside of our Realm of Control. However, safe practices to keep the content separated from underage users should be upheld. This responsibility lies with the owner of the Discord server.
