Researchers believe that the Soulshade has been around far before the [[The First]] and that it has no real connection with the collection or thievery of souls, with its aggressive nature pointing in such a direction. However, its desire to keep its distance from lingering [[Stellaborn]] argues the point to be inconclusive, leaving them with more questions than answers. 

Those who have spent years trying to understand the behavior of the Soulshade say that it's a somewhat reclusive creature, but any further study is nearly impossible as it always dissipates into the shadows before they can follow it, presenting a tantalizing challenge to researchers.
